When the viscosity of a fluid is known: The maximum viscosity range of a spindle running at a given speed is equal to the spindle factor multiplied by 100. The selection of one or two fluids will normally provide sufficient measurement points to verify calibration of your instrument. The objective is to choose a spindle that will produce a dial or digital display reading between 10 and 100 torque. Brookfield Viscosity Standards are accurate to ☑% of the stated viscosity and are certified by methods traceable to the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).For most industrial oils, it is common to measure kinematic viscosity at 40C because this is the basis for the ISO. Typically, the viscosity is reported at one of two temperatures, either 40C (100F) or 100C (212F).
